Listed because each one could be traced to a primary source on the date shown. That is a check on who they are, not a recommendation — it says nothing about the quality of anyone's work. Use the questions below before you hire.

What the rules say

"Architect" is a title protected by law. Using it without being on the ARB register is a criminal offence. This is one of the few places in the trades where the word itself is a guarantee.

How to check

Search the ARB register by name or by postcode with a distance filter. It is free and definitive.

What to ask for

If someone is not on the register they may still be a perfectly good designer — but they should be calling themselves an architectural designer or technologist, not an architect.

Worth knowing. "Architectural services" is not a protected phrase. Only the word architect is.
